Reverse crossfader?

Reverse crossfader?

Why do some (scratch) DJ's use the crossfader in a reversed setting? When the crossfader is reversed (hamster style) it becomes easier for them to execute certain scratches.

Most basic scratches start with the fader in a closed position and you open it when you start the scratch movement, but with some of the advanced scratches (like the flare scratch) you start with the fader open and you close it after you start the scratch movement. I discovered that it was easier for me to execute the flare when the crossfader was reversed because that made the movement similar to a movement I was already familiar with.
Even though that particular scratch became easier I decided to stick with the regular settings for the crossfader because I didn't like the way it felt to execute all the other scratches with a reversed fader.

You will have to experiment to see (and feel) which style works for you.
