Touched by Melancholy / Awoken by Faith is a short film about a girl who feels that she is being left out by her friends because of their different ways of living. With the incorporation of themes of truth and throw-away culture, TM/AF is a film about being true to oneself and also to communicate truth.

From the original script,

“tinanggap ko na lang sa sarili kong maaaring walang magma mahal sa akin gaya nang sa sarili ko kung hindi ako at ako lamang. Hindi ito labis, at lalong hindi kulang. Ito ay buo, at habang buhay na mananatili. talikuran man ako ng lahat, ubusin man ako ng tao at ng panahon. ito’y mananatili kasama ko habang buhay.”

Note: this was for our final project in Theology in the Contemporary World. My idea for the story was about a person who shouldn't feel bad about not keeping up with what modernity implies us to do. It's being true to ourselves because it can help us free ourselves from the expectations of others, and us as well. (Basically, it's about FOMO, na parang kung ang buong mundo tinatapakan ka, and mayroon ka pa rin ng sarili mo.)
