Ribbon Mic Brass Shootout - Royer R122 & R10 vs. AEA N8 & R84 on Trumpet and trombone

In a first of a new series of videos for brass players, we compare some of the popular ribbon microphones for horn players for those looking to record at home or for a new studio purchase.

We compare the Royer R122 and Royer R10 with the AEA N8 and AEA R84, covering the lower end of professional level ribbon microphones to the higher end of newer ribbon microphone models.

No compression or EQ was added to the microphones, only a very small amount of transparent reverb into an Apogee Element into Logic X.
