Sumedha sage at the foot of Dipankara Buddha.
Lord Deepankara Buddha came to the world during the time of the ascetic Sumedha. Lokanatha, who was accompanied by thousands of arahants, preached a Dhamma that could be heard by ten thousand people, visited the villages and towns, and offered amadam to the world's creatures. The townspeople of Ramma came to the Blessed One with ghee, flowers, etc. on the sickle, offered flowers, bowed to the Buddha, sat on one side, listened to the sermon, and invited him to give alms for the next day and left. The next day, after preparing a big alms, this group decorated the path of the Buddha and thousands of Maharahats.
At that time Sumedha ascetic jumped into the sky from his asceticism and when he saw the people who had beautified the road with a happy heart, he came down from the sky and asked them, "Venerable, for what reason has this road been beautified?"
Those people said, "Lord, Sumedha ascetic, don't you know? The ten-powerful Dipankara Buddha attains samma sambodhi, holds a damsak, visits our city of Vadinu, and resides in the Sudarshan Maha Vihara. We will invite that Lord Buddha to give alms and make the path of that Buddha worthy.'
Ascetic Sumedha thinks, "Even the word Buddha is rare in the world. What is said about a time of enlightenment. Thinking that I too want to pave the way for the Buddha with these people, he addressed those people and said, "Pinvatani, give me a part of this path that is being paved for the Buddha." I will also pave the way with you." They were also happy and gave a muddy stream knowing that Sumedha ascetic was right. The ascetic was overjoyed by this and said, "I am able to decorate this part with rudhi." But I am not happy to dress like that. Thinking that today it is worth it for me to perform a rite to Buddha, he takes soil from the basket and puts it in that area and fills the swamp. When the work on that land was not finished, Dipankara Dasabaladhari, accompanied by a great number of nobles with six abhinjas, accompanied by arhats, receiving offerings of divine flower fragrances etc. in the midst of divine music, received offerings from people's flowers etc. said As the ascetic Sumedha turned his eyes, he saw eighty of the thirty-two maha purusha signs, and saw the Blessed One shining with the beauty of Ketumalalankara, with the beauty of the Buddha. Bowing down and thinking, may the Ten Powers who washed away the dirty flowers and became Lord of Lovtura Buddha, bless me today. I too will become a Buddha in the next world like you and lead the world's animals across the universe.
