How to remove and reinstall a Takamine Palathetic Pickup

Описание к видео How to remove and reinstall a Takamine Palathetic Pickup

Takamine Japan owners - if you need to remove and reinstall or replace your palathetic pickup, here is an instructional video telling you how to do so.

If you are experiencing a ground hum that goes away when you touch your jack (   • Takamine ground hum example  ), more than likely you simply need to remove and clean your pickup elements. A broken grounding strip can also cause unwanted ground hum, and is available for purchase from any authorized Takamine dealer. It it VERY important to re-tighten the pickup screws as detailed in this video, otherwise ground hum may continue. There is usually NO NEED to replace your entire pickup assembly, as there is very little that can actually go wrong with it.

If you are experiencing low to no output, this is a common issue on Accur-Acoustic preamps due to bad caps. The entire preamp can be repaired or replaced. There are also various issues with Cool Tube preamps regarding the battery box. There are documented cases of similar issues with other preamp models, but they are very rare to encounter.

To narrow down your issue, unplug the palathetic pickup from your preamp and plug it into an RCA - 1/4" mono adapter. This can be plugged into your amplifier to verify a ground hum originating from the pickup, or low output from a bad preamp.
