No Gi Leg Drag (BJJ/Grappling)

Описание к видео No Gi Leg Drag (BJJ/Grappling)

No Gi Leg Drag: the leg drag is one of BJJ’s most effective guard passes with the gi - but what about no gi? Well, with a few modifications it can be a very effective way of clearing defensive legs and advancing to a control position. This version is less a drag than a pass-through, but it does share a few important qualities with the traditional gi leg drag method.

To start, its best done from a low position, like the split squat, with someone who’s reacting to your forward pressure. And while it trades the most distinguishing element - the grip at the pant cuff - for a c-grip at the ankle, we use the same action-reaction setup to move the legs off into the flank position.

One of the common problems you’ll often encounter with the leg drag (either gi or no gi) occurs when trying to move the leg across your centerline by *force*. The resistance, especially with a bigger stronger person, is too great. That’s why we focus so much on creating the appropriate response from our partner before trying to clear the leg, then trapping it in the architecture of our low squat position. From there we can advance to hip control and head control to solidify the pin.
