Thanks to Her Cochlear Implant, Single-Sided Deafness Is No Problem for Helen

Due to single-sided deafness (SSD) in her left ear as a result of Meniere’s disease, audiologist Helen was missing out on parts of conversations and feeling isolated—until she got a cochlear implant. She struggled with background noise in the car and in noisy places like restaurants, and she felt unsafe riding her bicycle.
