The easiest place to start is the beginning. The HPE DL320E G8 V2 is a 1U mini server. This would be very comparable to the Dell PowerEdge R210 ii. Check out our video on that server as well if interested to learn more. This system accepts DDR3 memory and has 4 DIMM slots. Speeds supported include 1066MT/s, 1333MT/s, 1600MT/s and 1866MT/s. Please note that 1866 and 1600 speed modules will clock down to the true fastest speed of 1333MT/s. Sizes accepted include 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB memory modules. There is one type of memory supported and that is ECC Unbuffered, also know as a server UDIMM. ECC Registered (RDIMMs) and Load Reduced (LRDIMMs) are not supported by the HP DL320E G8 V2 server. The max memory configuration for the HP DL320E G8 V2 is 32GB via 4 x 8GB 1333MT/s ECC Unbuffered Server Memory.

The HPE DL320E G8 V2 server has 1 CPU socket (LGA1155) which supports Intel Xeon E3-1200 V1 or V2 series processors. It also accepts Intel Pentium series as well as 2nd and 3rd Gen Intel Core i3 series CPUs. We recommend the Intel E3-1200 V2 series, and in particular, we are fond of the E3-1240v2 and E3-1270v2. These are what we normally build with and what most of our customer prefer. Make sure you have at least a quad core processor in your server to ensure you are getting good performance. We would not suggest using a dual core processor as this would be bad for speed and performance.
