DEPRESSION AS A SPECIAL NEEDS MOM. Addressing Mental Health Awareness.

At three days old I was told my son was blind. At one week old he had surgery. 3 months later we found out he had the most severe form of blindness. The list goes on and on. Though I was definitely sad and grieving, not until recently (JJ being 1.5 years old) did I realize that my mental health had become worse. I felt that depression was too strong of a word, but it turns out that was what I was feeling.

Even in my saddest moments in life, nothing has ever come close to the physical and emotional toll that true depression causes. I've been so hesitant to be open about this subject to friends, family and colleagues. But I think it is SO important to address and talk about. I hope you find courage to talk to someone who supports you!
