Welcome to Bowlers Paradise!

Here we go with another Belmo ball from Storm. The signature series coming out of Utah has received some mixed reviews ever since the inaugural release, the Timeless. The fate features the Rex pearl coverstock, which is released at the reactagloss finish for the first time, and is powered inside by the new F-8 core, the highest differential offering of the entire signature line.

The 5x4x5 2LS layout is a weaker layout I have found a good amount of success with in many other symmetrical pearl releases. This was meant to make sure that the Fate could get down the lane easily as the other releases featuring the REX cover have been stronger than expected, and I didn’t want to get shut into one zone, swinging the entire lane just to get to the pocket.

And on the lanes, the Fate was surprisingly clean and controlled. Based on the fact that this piece looks just like the 900 Global Wolverine which was a board covering monster, I was expecting something similar, but got something much different. The straighter you can play, the better the Fate looks. It’s rare that I can play outside of the track with a pearl ball as they’ll overreact and either run left, or burn up, but not with the Fate.

But every good reaction comes with it’s tradeoffs. When I moved inside, the Fate just hung up and just refused to make the aggressive corner I was trying to hard to have it make. Using this piece late in a block just doesn’t make as much sense as using a Night Road, Infinite Physix, Idol Cosmos or one of the other many pearl offerings from Storm Products.

But the Fate with say, a Hyped Solid, would make a great pairing for bowlers who like to play straighter angles at all times of the night, or for tournament bowlers looking for different ways to the pocket early in tournament blocks.

So with that, here’s my recommendations on types of bowlers that I think would match up well with this piece. The first is the power-tweener. If you’ve got that up the back, mid tier-rev rate with a decent amount of ball speed, the Fate is basically made for you. You’ll likely be able to make some minor adjustments and just keep on striking in the zone you’re most comfortable. The second is, and it should go without saying, is two handers. The biggest issue high rev rate players have with Storm equipment is it being too strong off the spot down lane. The Fate is clean enough to keep the ball in front of you, and controlled downlane enough to not doing anything stupid.

So if you are looking to add some more league and tournament victories into your destiny, the Storm Fate might just be what gets you there.
