Some people with partial ACL tears seen on an MRI may complain of instability with sports or activities. Some of you with partial ligament injuries may not complain of instability. Your physical examination and complaints often matter more than the MRI reading. All partial ACL injuries are not managed the same way. Surgery for partial ACL injuries is reserved for those of you with an unstable knee and quality of life issues because you can not return to the activities or sports that you enjoy.
