The Old Hundredth was a personal favourite of Queen Elizabeth II. Vaughan Williams wrote this arrangement of the hymn All People That on Earth Do Dwell for her coronation in 1953. The Old Hundreth tune is thought to have been composed by Louis Bourgeois in the 16th century. The text was written by protestant Scotsman William Kethe in the 1560s while in exile in Geneva ahead of the Scottish Reformation.
