There is a lot of confusion surrounding what it should cost when you take your dog to the groomer and what type of care your pet will receive during its grooming session.

First, let me explain some of the reasons your dog's grooming session may cost more than you expected to pay.

De-matting or matted coat

Special shampoo’s, conditioners, and other skin treatments
• most pet groomers use a bathing system designed to clean the pet better than hand washing as well as save time and product.

Special shampoo’s and treatments require a sit time on average of 5-10 minutes and must be applied by hand to the skin and coat.

This process takes extra time for the groomer and therefore a fee may be added to your grooming price.

Over weight dogs or over sized for the dog breed
