Miata Street Suspension Upgrade - FM Koni Stage 2.5 Install Part 1: Front

Описание к видео Miata Street Suspension Upgrade - FM Koni Stage 2.5 Install Part 1: Front

I love my 1991 Mazda Miata, and it's always been very fun to drive. But let's face it, after 32 years and 130k miles, the original suspension is pretty tired, especially the shocks. So it's time to upgrade!

There a lot of upgrade options available for this car, and it seems like most people install a set of adjustable coilovers. These are great for track / autocross / racing use, and for those who want to frequently change their ride height. I am not one of these people.

I am lazy. I like to set something up and then forget about it. Also I am dumb. So when you add more variables and adjustments, I might screw it up. Lastly, I am a fairly mellow car enthusiast who enjoys driving around town and zipping along curvy public roads at a non-deadly speed, while not breaking my spine on potholes.

So I decided on the Flyin' Miata Stage 2.5 suspension package (link below) with Koni yellow sport shocks (same series that I put on my Opel Manta and really like), bump stops, FM progressive springs, FM sway bars which are a tad stiffer than the originals, adjustable end links, and new upper shock mounts. As a bonus, I also got some Racing Beat front sway bar reinforcement blocks (link below), which might be overkill for me, but it never hurts to reinforce your chassis more.

Speaking of reinforcing the chassis, I highly reccomend that you do this first, before even messing with your suspension – especially on the early NA6. My seat belt tower brace, subframe braces, and frame rail reinforcements are all Cobalt items from Moss Miata (links below).

Anyway, this will be a 2-part video, and this episode covers the front of the car. I do a little cleaning, remove the old stuff and install the new. The next video will show the rear end, as well as my first drive and impressions with this new setup. See Part 2 here:    • Install & Drive! FM Stage 2.5 Koni Su...

Thanks for tuning in! This car clearly needs a few more things, so there will be more Miata videos to come.
