Questions are often raised about law and order in Delhi, but this time the capital’s police have carried out an operation that has won the hearts of the people. The team of Police Station Ashok Vihar under the North-West District set an exceptional example of active policing and public sensitivity. A three-year-old girl who had been kidnapped from the Wazirpur Industrial Area was safely rescued within just one hour, and the accused was also arrested red-handed. Following this swift action, local residents raised slogans of “Delhi Police Zindabad,” expressing their happiness and renewed trust in the police.
According to Additional DCP of North-West District, Sikandar Singh, a PCR call was received late at night on February 22 reporting the kidnapping of a three-year-old girl near the Bajaj factory. The matter was extremely serious and sensitive. The safety of a small child was at stake, and every minute was crucial. Understanding the gravity of the situation, a special team was immediately formed under the guidance of ACP Ashok Vihar, Akash Rawat, and the leadership of SHO Inspector Pramod Kumar.
The team included SI Rohit Chahar (In-charge, WPIA Police Post), SI Rakesh, Head Constables Pawan, Manoj, and Ajay. Without wasting any time, the team began scanning CCTV footage from roads and factories across the Wazirpur Industrial Area. Despite it being late at night, the police examined every possible angle. Based on technical analysis and local intelligence inputs, a suspect was soon identified as 47-year-old Amit, son of Dalchand, who worked in a factory in the same area.
The police quickly obtained the suspect’s mobile number and placed it under real-time tracking. With precise coordination and technical evidence, they cordoned off the suspected area and conducted a raid. The operation clearly demonstrated the team’s alertness, technical efficiency, and coordination. Within just one hour of the crime, the police arrested the accused and safely rescued the child from his custody.
Late at night, when the police team returned to the spot carrying the rescued child in their arms, hundreds of people gathered there became emotional. An area that had been filled with fear and anxiety just moments earlier now echoed with relief and joy. Local residents showered flower petals on the police team. Slogans such as “Delhi Police Zindabad” and “Our Police, Our Safety” resonated through the crowd. People hugged the officers and thanked them, saying that the operation had strengthened their trust in the police.
The police have registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have also seized his motorcycle. Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the crime and whether anyone else was involved.
This successful operation not only saved the life of an innocent child but also effectively prevented potential panic in the area. The swift and sensitive response of the Delhi Police has once again demonstrated that when there is trust between the police and the public, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.
