সবচেয়ে বড় দুর্গা তৈরি হচ্ছিল কামালপুরে। প্রশাসনিক বিভিন্ন বিধি-নিষেধের কারণে সেটি আর হলো না। তাদের নব্বই শতাংশ কাজ হয়ে গেছিল এবং খরচা হয়েছিল প্রায় 65 লক্ষ টাকা। গ্রামের চাষী সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষেরা এবার পুজোয় জামা কাপড় কিনে নি। তাদের বাড়ির বাচ্চাদের নতুন জামা কাপড় কিনে দিতে পারেননি। এমনকি ছয় মাস ধরে ফুলের জমিতে চাষ বন্ধ রেখেছেন। মাথার ঘাম পায়ে ফেলা শেষ সঞ্চয়টুকু দিয়ে এই প্রতিমা তৈরি করতে চেয়েছেন।

তারা ভেবেছিলেন যদি পুজো হয় তবে এই পূজোর সামনেই প্রচুর লোক আসবে। এবং সেখানেই কিছু দোকান যাওয়া হবে বা মেলা বসানো হবে এবং সেখান থেকে কিছু উপার্জন করবেন।
