History of Paragliding

Описание к видео History of Paragliding

The history of paragliding can be traced back to over 2,000 years ago. Perchers would use their wings to glide down from high places. While the sport has seen a lot of changes in the last few centuries, the basic principle of using wings to glide remains the same. Today, paragliding is enjoyed by people all over the world.

The first modern paraglider was developed in the 1960s by Domina Jalbert. Jalbert was a French-Canadian engineer who was interested in lighter-than-air flight. He designed a wing that could be controlled by the weight shift of the pilot. The wing was made of nylon and had aluminum tubing for the frame.
