The Invention of Paragliding by Leonardo da Vinci | First Paraglider from the 15th Century

To soar through the air like a bird - this age-old dream of humankind came true with the help of inventions like the paraglider. Did you know that artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci already created the first paraglider in the 15th century?

Of course, the modern hang-glider as we know it today differs from the one da Vinci created about 400 years ago. But after several other models which weren't able to fly, da Vinci realized that gliding is the way to bring humans up in the air and so he came up with idea of the paraglider. Today, some 130-thousand thrill-seekers the world over use a modern, updated version of Leonardo da Vinci's invention.
