Amarkantak is an important religious, tribal tourist centre of central India. It is situated in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located at the meeting point of three important hill ranges of Vindiya, Satpura and Mekal.
This place is famous for the origin of three important rivers, i.e.the Narmada , the Sone and the Johila.
The Gond , Baiga and Panika are three important tribal groups residing in and around this Amarkantak.
