You might be wondering why teach body parts if your child or client with autism doesn’t even know how to talk. But teaching body parts to toddlers and young children with autism have numerous benefits. That’s why learning body parts as soon as possible is a great decision. Children can learn to indicate pain, can learn the signs to the bodies, given they are easy, and can talk sooner. Body parts tend to be one syllable in length and are easier to say then other words.

In this video, I cover the importance of teaching body parts in more detail and tips for teaching body parts: 3 simple methods. If you’ve got a Mr. Potato Head, some paper and a pencil or pen, or some creativity to come up with a song, you’re on your way. There are also many body parts songs on the internet for you to use as a resource too.
