میری لُغت میں آب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

تو نے بہت خراب کیا ہے مجھے مگر
اس شعر میں خراب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

یہ عارضی طلب ہے ، اسے عشق مت سمجھ
لمحاتی اضطراب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

صحرا نے کر تو دی ہے مجھے گھر کی پیش کش
اس خانماں خراب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

تسلیم ہے کہ میں نے دیا ہے اُسے گلاب
لیکن یہاں گلاب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

تعبیر زندگی ہی بتائی گئی مجھے
حالانکہ میرے خواب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

صحرا کے ہاں بھنور کے معانی ہیں مختلف
دریا کے ہاں سراب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

فرہنگ عشق دیکھ کے آیا ہوں میں ابھی
اُس میں گُنہ ثواب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

اِس فتنہ گر ہجوم کو سمجھائیے جناب
قوموں میں انقلاب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

سچ ہے کہ ماہتاب سے کرتا ہوں عشق میں
ہاں لفظ ماہتاب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

گو وصل کے سوال پہ انکار ہو گیا
خوش ہوں کہ اس جواب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

ہوتی ہے اور طرح کی غریبوں کی چھان بین
شاہوں کے احتساب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

ناراض عشق ! حسن کی مجبوریاں سمجھ
محفل میں اجتناب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

ساقی کی پیش کش نہیں محدود جام تک
اس دعوت شراب کا مطلب کچھ اور ہے

مقصد فقط چھپانا نہیں خدوخال کو

Tu ne boht kharab kiya hai mujhe magar
is sher main kharab ka matlab kuch aur hai

Go wasl ke sawal par inkaar ho gaya
kush hoon ke is jawab ka matlab kuch aur hai

Hoti hai aur tarha ghareebon ki chaan been
shaahon ke ehtesaab ka matlab kuch aur hai

Tabeer zindagi ki batai gayi mujhe
halanke mere khwaab ka matlab kuch aur hai

Maqsad faqat chupana nahi khad o khaal ko
Faris miyan hijab ka matlab kuch aur hai
