Conklin Crescent Filler with flexible nib - Full Restoration

Описание к видео Conklin Crescent Filler with flexible nib - Full Restoration

A beautiful vintage Conklin Crescent Filler made of Blackened Chased Hard Rubber (BCHR) which really shows off the quality of vintage flexible nibs. This is a really straight forward filling mechanism. It's basically a bar that is compressed against the internal sac - pressed in by the crescent that protrudes through a slit in the barrel. The sac is deflated by the pressure bar. When the bar is no longer being pressed the sac's own recoil pushes the bar back up, along with the crescent, and generates the vacuum that pulls ink into the sac. The simple ring that rotates around the barrel is what keeps the crescent either locked from being pressed or free to be actuated to fill the pen.

This pen as in overall very good condition - minimal oxidation that mostly came out with a good surface polish. I do plan to make a video demonstrating one particular de-oxidizing solution.

I hope you enjoy seeing ease with with vintage flex nibs do their thing. Barely any pressure was needed to make this nib spread and create its line variation.

*Wanted to make a quick note that I have recently started a "Buy Me a Coffee" page so that people who watch my videos and appreciate the content can choose to donate any amount they wish to help me maintain this channel and keep creating content. I hope this channel continues to help the amateur and vintage fountain pen collector/restorer. Any funds will go back to pen repair supplies and to the channel in terms of upgrading lights, mics, and camera equipment. The link to the donation page is in the channel bio. I really appreciate all comments and feedback.
