MarineMax Marine Technician Jackson Price Talks Marine Mechanics Institute

Jackson “Jax” Price was working at a restaurant back home in New Jersey when he saved up enough to buy his first boat, a 15-foot boat. He loved being out on the water, but he wasn’t too fond of working in the restaurant industry. His parents pushed him to study marine technician training at Marine Mechanics Institute (MMI).

Despite moving away from his family to attend school, Jax says he has loved the industry since he made the leap. He says the expert knowledge of MMI instructors, some with 20 or 30 years of experience, was really beneficial in school.

Jax’s advice for aspiring marine technicians is to constantly learn, since equipment and technology are always changing. For anyone who is hesitant about studying to become a marine technician, his advice is to take the risk, pay attention and do it the right way.
