They believe it means God has a customized blueprint for their life, a divine plan that will lead them to career advancement, financial security, a happy marriage, healthy children, and a comfortable retirement. They quote it when applying for jobs, when starting businesses, when facing uncertainty about the future. They frame it on their walls as a reminder that everything will work out exactly as they hope.

What if the way we commonly understand Jeremiah 29:11 is not just slightly off, but fundamentally wrong.
