Should We Analyze Video Games? | Video Essay on Outer Wilds, Video Game Analysis and Chill Games

What's the point of analyzing video games? Why do we make video essays about games we love? Is it because we're all just trying to show off our editing and writing skills? Or is there more to it? Engaging with the video games we love can deepen our appreciation and can help train our critical thinking muscles. Games like The Outer Wilds, Celeste, Shadow of the Colossus, and so many more great games beg us to look a bit deeper. And games that really nail parts of their design like Abzu or Everhood are great examples of games that make us ask "how did they do that?" Of course chill Games can be just as important, since not every game needs a 4 hour video essay made about it. Sometimes we just need to vibe and relax with The Ramp or Dorfromantik, you know?
