Let's Play Ultima VIII #35: Seeking Ore

We've managed to make it to the rank of initiate among the theurgists in record time, though considering how quickly we became the scion of the necromancer that's not too surprising. The magic of Stratos doesn't require reagents to prepare the spells, merely a magical focus for each spell through which we channel the power of Stratos for a desired effect. These need to be fashioned from silver that has been worked by Korick, the ore deep within the caves beneath the monastery. That the silver is in a cave isn't surprising either as the game has only so many tilesets for us to explore; that those caves also contain deadly traps and enemies is to be expected also, though at this point we don't have much to worry from them unless they're foes we haven't seen before.

Seeking out the silver however might be more of an issue, as it blends in quite capably with the large amounts of grey that we've seen in nearly every place we've encountered. Given only the vaguest of instructions when told to seek it, it could be anywhere within the cave system, not to mention we don't know how much of it we need. Either way, I'm sure the Avatar will have no problem locating the silver we need and getting it worked by Korick.

After all, when have we ever failed to find an item that's exceptionally obvious in any of the RPGs I've played? I bet you can't even think of one instance, can you?
