Processing Ep 03 "West Coast Logging" Sev.photography

Processing Ep 03 in the West Coast logging web series. This episode shows what happens the trees after their been fell. Processing is machine heavy with such large equipment as a grappled yarder, log loader, and the backbone of all the logging truck. The most physically demanding jobs in logging is a hook tender this is where most people start out because it will weed them out if they can't cut this tough job. This job is so challenging because of the quick pace that one has to move on uneven terrain covered with tree debris. The grapple yard and the hook tender have a symbiotic relationship as ones on the top of the hill ones at the bottom moving massive logs to the top. They use a series of honks to communicate and sometimes a radio. The grapple yarder an log loader operator also have a very fluid relationship. The yarder drags the logs up so that log loader can stack the logs to be bucked up. The rugged terrain beats up the people and equipment, they have to be looked after with fuel rest and maintenance.
