ONE HOUR CLASSIC 2020 Lago di Garda | GoPro POV Andy Laufer

The RRD One Hour Classic at CircoloSurfTorbole is one of the most famous windsurfing competitions with a long history. The 1st North One Hour Classic took already place in the mid 80ies. This year there were lots of the famous PWA guys like Jordy Vonk, Matteo Iachino, Gunnar Asmussen, Bruno Martini, Basil Jasquin, Marco Lang, Malte Reuscher, Maciek Rutkowski and many more.

Missing the start in the foil competition but could overtake lots of competitors, loosing it with some nice and funny wipeouts, especially when fighting with Blanca Alabau ESP-3 or Rytis Jasiunas LTU-7.

After that I witnessed the worst crash I've ever seen in windsurfing on the 1st fin start attempt. The rabbit boat went straight and with full speed into Massimiliano Brunetti ITA-95. He was obviously too early. The crash was that gnarly that I had to look away, sorry for that :) Fortunately no one got hurt!

Straight after, we had a super nice race for about 55 minutes until the wind died, especially on the one side of the course. Stopped planing at about 55 minutes when I was fighting with Maciek Rutkowski for the 4th place but then got stucked. After about one minute I got a gust and continued my race in a solid 5th place. Unfortunately I got stuck about 300 m in front of the finishing line in a huge wind hole again, standing there and watching 3 other guys passing with a gust from behind. At the end I could only finish in 8th position.

Anyway it was a super nice race with winds between 10 and 25 knots most of the time, using my JP Aaustralia Slalom 85, Neil Pryde EVOXII 9.0 and a NoLo model 6 in 45 cm.

Speed of that combo is insane. Jibes are getting better and better, feeling really good on my stuff.
