Speed- Slalom- Foil Sessions Luderitzspeedchallenge 2022 | Andy Laufer

As the forecast was not that good I decided to take my slalom and foil gear as well. I even took my surfskate to have fun on those non windy days. Actually in Luderitz you can find wind every day near Diaz Point.
That one day foiling at Diaz Point was the best foiling day I ever had. Beautiful water colours, seals, dolphins and lots of birds everywhere.
But even that one day I went out slalom sailing right in front of the Nest Hotel was perfect. Beautiful landscapes, small beaches on the other side, you can even find some small speed strips and lots of wildlife.
The Luderitzspeedchallenge didn't run pretty well for me this year. Just one day before the real storm started, I got problems with my back. Twan Verseput helped me out with some physio excercises wich helped in the beginning. So I made 4 testruns in medium winds, got faster and faster until the pain in my back got worse, had to stop right away.
The next day, that World Record day of Heidi Ulrich I rigged my Neil Pryde 5.3 EVOXIV Speed but I couldn't even carry my sail torwards the canal. The pain got worse and I decided to stay on the beach.
So my fastest run of 48.96kn was in medium winds with medium weight on my back.
Hoping for next year! Gear is insanely fast!
