In 1971 the first McDonald's restaurant in Australia was opened in the Sydney, NSW suburb of Yagoona - just 16 years after the company began in the United States.

Global recording artist Barry Manilow commenced his career writing advertising jingles and 'You deserve a break today' is his work. However this version was updated for the Australian market as a snappier, faster track.
