Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Émigre, a new oratorio tracing the story of two Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai to escape the Holocaust. The U.S premiere of this sweeping tale of love and loss is coming to the NY Phil on February 29th at 7:30 and March 1st at 8 p.m., under the baton of Maestro Long Yu, the co-commissioning Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

WQXR’s Chief Content Officer Ed Yim hosts this conversation with creative team about the making of this semi-staged musical drama.

Their story in this oft-forgotten chapter is brought to life by American film and concert composer Aaron Zigman, with lyrics by Grammy-winning librettist Mark Campbell, additional lyrics by Brock Walsh, and directed by Mary Birnbaum.
