Downtown to the Airport - A First Person Drive Through Todos Santos (Cities: Skylines 1)

Описание к видео Downtown to the Airport - A First Person Drive Through Todos Santos (Cities: Skylines 1)

In this video, you'll take a convoluted drive that covers three of the expressway-grade municipal routes in Todos Santos: the TS-69, TS-22 and TS-4, going from downtown to the seaport to the airport.

-- ABOUT THE ROUTE --
TS-69 primarily consists of the Todos Santos Bay Toll Bridge, which connects downtown to the town of Gatoña. There is an additional short stretch that runs through Gatoña, meets up with the TS-2, and then terminates at TS-20 by the new Walmart.

TS-22 runs at a diagonal, connecting the TS-2 to TS-1 and allowing quick access to Puerto Nuevo, the city's large shipping hub.

TS-4 begins at the downtown stack interchange and then runs east through Las Colinas, first the town and then the two hills that are its namesake. It then bulldozes its way through the heart of the town of Alegría del Alma, runs by the airport and terminates in a Y-interchange with the TS-2.

-- ABOUT THE LANDMARKS --
Puente de la Bahía de Todos Santos (Todos Santos Bay Bridge): This toll bridge, built in 1999 to provide quick access from downtown to the new port development, defines many of the views of the city's skyline. It is just high enough to allow the largest cargo ships to pass underneath it. It was constructed in a private-public partnership, with operations set to transfer to the city government next year. Proposals have been made to add a pedestrian deck, metro line and/or BRT line beneath the 4-lane road deck.

DUM Basnaim: This veteran ship bounces between Todos Santos and many of the other ports in the Mar Verde and Atlantic Ocean, carrying anything that'll fit into a 40' container.

El Trébol (the Clover): Misshapen as it is, this cloverleaf interchange on the outskirts of Gatoña performs its job of connecting two expressways adequately. Alternate name proposed by some citizens: "Los huevos".

Puerto Nuevo: The final step in Todos Santos' "New Millenium" infrastructure plan, this large port development replaced Puerto Norte as the main shipping hub of the city. 96% of all goods imported to the city pass through here. It has spawned much development and many issues in the surrounding areas, but most citizens report getting a warm and fuzzy feeling when the see the giant cranes moving containers to their shores.

Torre Marín (Marín Tower): Being the tallest structure in the metropolitan area, this radio/TV antenna perched on top of the larger of the two hills dominates the city's skyline.

Edificio Azúcar (the Sugar Building): Named in reference to the once-titanic sugar industry harbored in Alegría del Alma, this mixed-use skyscraper draws as many "oohs" as it does "ughs". Most, though, agree that it's central to the character of the area.

Aeropuerto Internacional de Todos Santos: A giant three-runway airport built on what was once a small plains peninsula. It was once a military airport, but over the last century of peace it has been transferred to the city government and brought millions of passengers to and from this city to and from all corners of the globe.

CimAir flight 399 from Alpenglow: A long-haul flight originating in the mountain city of Alpenglow; not for the impatient. The other end of its leg makes an appearance in this video:    • Alpenglow - Cinematic Video (Cities: ...

-- ABOUT THE SERIES --
On the north shores of this tropical island sprawls the metropolis of Todos Santos. In this series, I attempt to build a Latin American city that roams from the Old World casco viejo to the car-centric urbanism of the New World, primarily drawing inspiration from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I hope you’ll join me on this high-detail exploration of all the things that make us love cities.
