Have you ever had akkhi masoor dal?
It’s extremely healthy, tastes delicious and super simple to make!


Ingredients I used:
2 tbsp oil
6 to 7 big cloves of garlic
1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
1 and 1/2 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
1 green chilli (optional)
1 cup masoor dal + water (for soaking)
salt
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 to 1 tsp red chilli powder
1 and 1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
water as needed
coriander leaves for garnish (optional but recommended)

Procedure:
Soak masoor dal in sufficient water for 2 hours.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add garlic. Sauté well till garlic has turned golden.
Add onions, green chilli and fry well till onions then brown.
Add tomatoes and mix well. Fry till tomatoes are well cooked.
Add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder. Mix well.
Add masoor dal and mix well.
Add water as required and garam masala and cook till the dal turns mushy.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
