ANTIQUE Brace Bit Restoration - ASMR

In this video I restored a very old and rusty antique Brace Bit Hand Drill. I found it in an old workshop under a work bench, it has probably been many years since it was last used.


THE RESTORATION PROCESS

I removed the surface corrosion with a wire brush, then I prepared water and soda for electrolysis.
I left the Antique Brace Bit Hand Drill in electrolysis for 5 hours. I disassembled the Hand Drill, mechanically brushed and polished it.

After finishing the process, I started with Nickel Plating and Cold Bluing.
I Nickel-Plated the Crank, Ratchet Collar Control, Ratchet Pawls, and Rachet Wheel.
I Cold Bluing the Drill Bit Jaws, Chuck and Ball Bearing Cup.

I sanded the Sweep handle and Head with 200 grit sandpaper, and painted it Cherry color (89).
I used Ebony wood for the Hand Drill test.

Now the Brace Bit Hand Drill goes in the display case with the other antique tools.
