For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1950 Mercury custom build that is breath taking from every angle. Midnight black paint surrounds the ever-bending body lines finally wrapping in towards the two tone black and white Ultimate leather interior. Up close and personal you'll swear the build happened weeks ago. That's because the build has just 1,304 miles on it. The customization has more than we can list but we'll cover 95% of it. The top has been professionally chopped and the bottom has been updated with modern suspension. From the wiring to the interior this car is essentially new. In addition to the chopped top, the rear pan has been rolled at the back of the car behind the bumper, frenched headlights, peep mirrors and 1957 Cadillac hubcaps with new Diamond wide white wall tires that won't yellow. Some of the more custom touches include triple lake pipes, a shaved and peaked hood, dummy spotlights with push button door poppers for the shaved doors, a custom and very rare 1953 Desoto front grille, shaved trunk deck, bubble skirts for the rear wheels and 1959 Cadillac taillights. As cool as this car is, you'll be even cooler thanks to a Vintage Air unit providing cold A/C. Power seats will help you find the perfect seat position while a IDIDIT tilt steering column and a Lokar shifter help you stay in control. The dash is a 1949 Mercury and includes rebuilt and updated gauges with bright white lighting for a great look. Other interior lighting is also bright white and with the flip of a switch you will also have a red glow under the dash. Under dash vents and controls are in place in order to not cut into the original dash. New black and white roll and pleat interior, new headliner, new glove box, extra show floor mats for car shows and new sill plates. The trunk is finished in similar fashion with custom interior with new carpet. Under the hood is truly amazing! If the custom fabricated sheet metal in the engine compartment doesn't impress you, well you're probably not a car person. The air cleaner and inner fender covers are custom made for this car and are painted in a high gloss black finish to match the exterior. The air cleaner cover was made to compliment the peaked hood. Job well done! Most everything else under the hood is either chrome or polished for that ultimate show car look. Power comes from a stout yet user friendly Chevy 350 V8 sending power through a TH-350 automatic transmission and back to a Ford 9" rear end housing new axles. The build included new engine and transmission mounts. Easy maneuverability is accomplished with Fatman Fabrications stage two power rack and pinion steering and also include front and rear sway bars. Among other things the car was also fitted with a new gas tank, electric fuel pump and a new wiring harness.
This car was shipped to Fatman Fabrications in Charlotte to have all mechanical work completed. All restoration work was done by a professional car shop. No shortcuts were taken. This is a beautiful car completed by the best craftsmen the seller could find. The man who did the paint work has had over 95 vehicles published in magazines. You will be proud to drive and own this car. For more information on becoming the proud new owner, call our STL sales team at 618-271-3000 or visit our STL showroom.
