Welcome to Edible Creations! Today's recipe is Pyaz Paratha Recipe

Onion paratha is a popular North Indian flatbread stuffed with a flavorful onion mixture. The filling is made with finely chopped onions, green chilies, and aromatic spices, then rolled inside whole wheat dough. Cooked on a hot tawa with a little oil or ghee until golden and crisp, it is best enjoyed with curd, pickle, or butter.

✨ Ingredients
For Onion Stuffing:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
Pinch of hing (asafoetida)
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp aamchur (dry mango powder)
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
¼ cup besan (gram flour)
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp kasuri methi, crushed
For Dough:
2 cups whole wheat flour
½ tsp salt
Water (as required for kneading)
Other Ingredients:
Wheat flour (for dusting)
Oil or ghee (for roasting)


📝 Method
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, add wheat flour and salt.
Gradually add water and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
Cover and rest the dough for at least 20 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Onion Stuffing
Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add a pinch of hing, then add finely chopped onions and green chilies.
Sauté till the onions turn slightly golden.
Add turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
Add salt, aamchur, and besan. Roast for 2–3 minutes until the raw smell of besan goes away.
Finally, add coriander leaves and crushed kasuri methi. Mix well and let stuffing cool completely.
Step 3: Roll and Stuff Paratha
Divide the dough into medium-sized balls.
Roll one ball into a small disc using dry flour for dusting.
Place 2–3 tbsp onion stuffing in the center.
Bring the edges together, seal, and gently roll again into a paratha.
Step 4: Roast the Paratha
Heat a tawa or skillet on medium flame.
Place the rolled paratha and roast until golden spots appear.
Flip and apply a little oil/ghee. Roast both sides until crisp and golden brown.
🍽️ Serving Suggestion
Serve hot Onion Paratha with curd, pickle, or butter. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
