2017 Hoyt Pro Defiant Preview

Hoyt Archery introduced the new flagship Defiant series of hunting bows last year, with both carbon and aluminum riser options. While the Carbon Defiant returns unchanged for 2017, Hoyt decided to focus on the aluminum version for 2017. The result is the new Pro Defiant series, which includes the Pro Defiant, Pro Defiant Turbo, Pro Defiant 34 and Double XL.

The key upgrade for 2017 is in the riser design. The Pro Defiant's new riser features a truss, which is designed to channel the bow's vibration away from the grip. In theory, this should mean less vibration in the hand. We will let you know how it feels when we have a chance to test it out in the coming months.

The Pro Defiant series shares many features with the Carbon Defiant, including the same DFX cam and a half system and past parallel limb design. Together, these produce a broader string angle and a longer full draw axle-to-axle measurement. Essentially, Hoyt claims shooting a Defiant bow is like shooting a bow some two inches longer. Hoyt also boasts a more optimal peep sight position.

Each Pro Defiant Series bow is available in one of five standard hunting colors, including the new Buckskin color, along with Realtree Xtra, Realtree Max 1, Under Armor Ridge Reaper Barren and Blackout. Six different target color options are also available, including Red, White, Blue, Orange, Green and Purple.
