How to do one and two foot off-ice salchow entries

«One foot entry»
In this video, I demonstrate the one-foot entry for the salchow. It is really important for the salchow to keep a strong check position with the extended leg. The arms need to feel good resistance inside the circle all the way until the lift off.

«Two foot entry»
In the second part of the video, I show how to do a two-foot entry to the salchow off the ice. I first hit the check position and then place the right foot down on the ground. I then slide the left foot to mimic the inside edge take-off before pivoting off the left foot. This exercise can sometimes look similar to a toe loop, so be sure to have intention of the inside pressure still on the left leg as you place your foot.

Watch out for our next post for two exercises to improve your salchow take-off posture.
