Heleen Oomen (1987) started playing the clarinet at only seven years old by taking lessons with Andrea Zierleyn. In September 1997 she started studying with Herman Braune as part of the Young Talent College of the Conservatory of Amsterdam where she also continued her further studies.
In 1999, Heleen won the second price of the Nationaal Concours van de Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. She performed in venues such as Azijnfabriek in Den Bosch, Cristofori in Amsterdam, Museum Beelden Aan Zee in Scheveningen, twice for Koningin Beatrix in Huis ten Bosch and the Kleine Zaal van het Amsterdamse Concertgebouw. She comes from a musical family. Her father, Antoine Oomen, wrote a lot of songs with lyrics of Dutch poems as you can hear in this wonderful duo set with Mark Walter. Mark has been playing piano since he was six years old. He has studied with Marjes Benoist, Noortje Brons, Antoine Oomen and his teacher at the Conservatory of Utrecht, Sebestian Colombo. Mark uses his piano skills in different ways and has a broad repertoire. He often accompanies instrumentalists, singers, and especially choirs. Because he is a singer himself he knows how to compliment the singer's breathing and movement very well.
