How to create a soft pastels background

Soft pastels are often used by colorists for the background. They are easy to use, quick to work with and look very nice and soft to complete the image without taking too much attention from the main motif of the picture.
I decided to use them in a little bit different way to give a more original look to the background.


Soft pastels are going to look best on the background if you use several tones of one or two colors, or use colors that are close to each other on a color wheel. White color is very important for softening and blending.
