Our birth story for our first baby: We listened to the book "Supernatural Childbirth" by Jackie Mize (https://bit.ly/3qVbwO0) on audible & it completely changed our lives! We listened multiple times during pregnancy & chose to pray & claim God's promises over our birth & my body together as a couple. If you are at all nervous or anxious for birth, we highly recommend it! God showed up through it all. The Holy Spirit saturated the room & the Lord gave me His incredible strength to have a natural (but supernatural) home birth.
Everyone that attended our birth had tested negative for covid & we also all quarantined together for 2 weeks prior (I already miss all the fun games, dance parties, incredible God conversations & dream sessions, + all the amazing food we ate. Mom made us a "build your own" sushi bar a few days prior to birth and it was just *MUAH*). Baby was 10 days overdue (original due date of 12/1), but when baby was ready, it all happened so quickly! Even though baby was 10 days past due, we knew that it was all in God's timing, & would happen @ the right time. So we didn't worry about getting induced (although we did try all the things ~ exercises, ball bouncing, eating pineapple & dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea, sex, curb walking, & a very gentle membrane sweep 2 days prior to birth); we just trusted that God is the creator of life & He would bring the baby at the right time! AND...labor only lasted about 6ish hours & I pushed for only 10-15min!
*(Backstory) ~ We decided to wait to find out the gender of our baby ~ I thought it was going to be a boy, & Justin thought it was going to be a girl. God saved his life one night at work (he's a Longshoreman at the Port of Seattle which can be a very dangerous job with big, heavy machinery) by showing him a vision of me holding a baby girl and told him to "back up now bc your family needs you." He backed up in his semi truck & 2 seconds later, a 12,000 lb container got knocked over by a crane operator & fell from 30 feet up, smashing right onto the space he had occupied just moments before. He would have gotten smooshed! Thank you, LORD, for saving him!!
We have an ongoing marriage joke that whoever is right, the other person has to tell them they are right. So we agreed that when the baby came out, the person that was wrong had to tell the other they were right ;)
My water broke at 5:30PM on Dec 10, 2020 while sitting on the couch watching "Three Men And A Baby" ~ I got up to take a shower, & started feeling light contractions around 6:30. We paged our midwives & called our doula to drive up (she was 2 hours away, also one of our very best friends). We started tracking my contractions & at first they were about 15 minutes apart. Within an hour, I was already tracking 4-1-1...so I went from early labor to active labor very quickly! Both the midwives & our doula showed up to our house & it was GO TIME.
I had my eyes closed the majority of the time, I had hubby rubbing both legs, Mariah holding my hand and speaking life & encouragement & worship over me (as well as waving peppermint essential oils by my nose which was so nice), sister & mom took turns rubbing my arms, and Britt was floating around the room capturing this AMAZING birth video!
My contractions were VERY intense. My whole stomach contracted w/ such POWER. Every single one was one step closer to meeting our baby. I remember getting on top of each one with good, calm breaths & borrowing strength from the Lord through each one. Hubby & sister set up the birth tub for me, but everything happened so quickly that I didn't feel like I could move from the position I was in on our bed. So I stayed propped up laying on my back the whole time.
We had an amazing worship birth playlist hubby prepared playing lightly throughout the room (https://spoti.fi/3iXuKzJ) and when it came time to push baby out, the song "Only From You" by Jason Upton was playing. Babe said, "if baby comes out to this song, I'm gonna lose it!" ~ and as I pushed, we saw a head, then cheeks, a chin, and then the body popped all the way out at 1AM on Dec. 11, 2020 with that song singing, "HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH" wow, so powerful, thank you Jesus!!! I lifted the leg, saw it was a girl, and everyone exclaimed with joy, "IT'S A GIRL!" And yes...I told hubby he was right ;)
It was the most powerful, special, and beautiful supernatural childbirth...and I wanna do it over & over again!!!! GIVE US ALL THE BABIES!
Praising God for His goodness & faithfulness. Prayer & partnering w/ God in every detail is the most powerful thing we can do!
