Charcoal Transfer with the Gel Plate

Описание к видео Charcoal Transfer with the Gel Plate

In this video, I show how to transfer your charcoal sketch using your gel plate. Enjoy watching and I hope you get inspired to try similar methods at home!

PROCESS:
10:04 Using vine charcoal (softer kind), draw your image onto any paper.

11:22 Turn it over and place it on your gel plate. Do not move the paper. Gently rub til the drawing has transferred. (Lift the paper to see the drawing. ) You may still have some charcoal remaining on the paper.

13:23 Mix some regular (not slow drying) acrylics on the side, on a piece of wax paper or plexiglass.

16:51 Using brayer, roll a thin layer of regular acrylic (light color in this case) over entire plate.
Place paper on plate right away, rub gently to make sure paper makes contact everywhere. NOW LET DRY.
Wait at least 20 minutes, maybe longer depending on the temperature/humidity of your workspace.

23:09 Pull up paper. All the paint and drawing should come up onto your paper. If not, you may not have let the final layer dry fully.

MATERIALS
Materials used in the video:
- Gel plate 12 x 14
-"Basic" Liquitex acrylic paints
-Brayer
-Smooth heavyweight paper such as watercolor, bristol, printmaking paper.
This technique works best with heavier paper.
