Michael Alec Rose's new work inspired by the church and its recent history

Peter Sheppard Skærved spent summers as a child at St Anthony & hours practising in this beautiful church, in-between sailing, walking and shrimping. Together with his mother & brother, they gave annual concerts in the church: Willie Jenkin, churchwarden & organist here performed. The new work by Nashville-based composer Michael Alec Rose celebrates Willie’s performances of Haydn’s St Anthony Chorale at these concerts. Tomorrow night, Peter is giving two performances at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, near Penzance, including works written for him by Sadie Harrison and the American composer Gloria Coates, who died in 2023.
