On April 11, 1964, the eyes of the world were on Norfolk, Virginia, USA, as General of the Army Douglas MacArthur was laid to rest in the Rotunda of the MacArthur Memorial -- a museum dedicated to his life and legacy. Today, the museum has expanded into one of the premier institutions in the United States dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of World War I, World War II, the Occupation of Japan, and the Korean War. To date, the Memorial has served more than five million visitors, scholars, and students. This brief video traces the development of the museum over the last 50 years.
