Servicing/Restoring Shimano TLD 15

This is a Shimano TLD 15, lever drag reel. Ex charter skipper reel as you can see from the condition.
It was pretty much solid and would only turn with a lot of force. Just about the hardest one I have ever done. I tried applying heat to the shaft to free it, got it turning but still would not come out of the bush. Literally had to beat it out all the way with a block and hammer. Always dodgy as you can bend the shaft or destroy the threads, heating is not the best policy as its a plastic endplate.
Got it apart eventually, rebuilt with more grease than normal, best policy with skippers reels.
TOP TIP most lever drag reels you need to assemble the lever mech in the free spool position or it won't work. Seen so many that people have not done this and wondered why the reel is jammed..
