Well, it’s been over eight months since Mario Kart World has come out, and we’re on version 1.5.0. It adds teams to Knockout Tour playing online (locally; there won’t be any team-based Knockout Tours in my videos for the time being) and Polish language support (I like that this means there are enough Polish-language players, or potential players, to be worth a language option). It also fixes a few bugs here and there.

I’m guessing they’re taking the slow road to updates with this game, considering the voices for characters from Donkey Kong Bananza are still in the credits, but their performances are not present in Mario Kart World itself.

00:00 - Rally #1
Golden Rally: Desert Hills, Mario Bros. Circuit, Choco Mountain, Moo Moo Meadows, Mario Circuit, Acorn Heights
Character: Daisy
This time, I did NOT do the shortcut on the vines near the end of Acorn Heights correctly. I consider it a job well done if I even make it there though! Especially after the savage attack hear the beginning that eventually put me in last place.

Cloud Rally: Airship Fortress, Shy Guy Bazaar, Mario Bros. Circuit, Crown City, Faraway Oasis, Great ? Block Ruins
Character: Wario (Oasis)
Remember how I mentioned that something else goes wrong for the people in front of me in Great ? Block Ruins? Well, it happened again—this time, it was a Red Shell with its sights set on the person who did that alternate path underneath the main one with the clouds.

Crown City
Character: Donkey Kong (All-Terrain)
That was annoying, towards the beginning, where I got shoved into the barricades by someone who didn’t know where they were going. Between that and the Lightning Bolt between the buildings on the second lap, I spent much of my time trying to climb the ladder.

How thematically appropriate. I did not like the way that Lightning Bolt was timed to nullify the effects of my Spiny Shell though, but I’m sure that was not intentional.

Wario Stadium to Mario Bros. Circuit
Character: Pianta
Music: Athletic Theme (Super Mario Bros. 3)
I got gang-attacked a lot in this race—it is the same room as the previous ones, but it looks like there were a lot of people here who perceived Starmen and Mega Mushrooms as attack items (which is pretty normal). I got to turn the tables when I nabbed a Golden Mushroom and Bullet Bill once we got to Mario Bros. Circuit though.

Balloon Battle
Dino Dino Jungle
Character: Rosalina (Aurora)
Finally, a Balloon Battle! Dino Dino Jungle is the most crowded, smallest Battle Mode stage, so you are always near someone itching to attack you. Hence, survival is toughest here, and I consider it an achievement to be here for a Balloon Battle and make it to the end. Of the 16 participants, only 6 made it to the end…and I was almost eliminated early on after getting hit 4 times in the first half.

Coin Runners
Moo Moo Meadows

By contrast, Moo Moo Meadows is the biggest Battle Mode stage, making it better suited for Coin Runners, especially when the room is at half capacity like this. Perhaps owing to its wide open nature, this is the first Coin Runners match, I think, where I ended without getting hit at all, though I was attacked many times.

I noticed for this match, people were pooling at the bottom. I initially just stayed on the right side, but as more people wound up there, I went down to the bottom too to see wha I could do, especially as a few others had moved out later. I prefer to stay away from crowds in Balloon Battle because while it’s easier to score points, it’s also easlier to lose what you got via elimination. Only 5 of them out of 17 participants, but all of them had higher BRs than me.
