As of when I recorded this footage, the third daily mission in Pokémon TCG Live asks you to use a deck with Pokémon of or Energy of one of three different types: Grass, Water, and Lightning. Grass is because of the Mega Meganium ex deck, while Water and Lightning are for the Mega Dragonite ex deck. Narutally, I was not going to just use those decks—I made an Erika deck for Grass (“Garden of Delights”) and a Mega Froslass ex deck for Water (“Refrain from Assuming”), but Lightning took a bit longer because there weren’t quite as many standout cards for that type. Here is what I came up with—there is a later version of this deck that instead uses Stunfisk, which IS always present on her team; as well as Iono’s Kilowattrel, matching the name better with both Canari and Iono’s presence in the deck (I may have a follow-up video for that later):

This is that brief moment with both Miraidon ex and Canari. Miraidon ex’s Ability, “Tandem Unit,” allows you to put 2 Basic Lightning Pokémon onto your Bench (as you can see, that can include another Miraidon ex), and combined with Canari, lets you get whatever Pokémon you want in a jiffy, limited only by the rule that a Pokémon can evolve just once per turn. Under this scheme, provided you’re not limited by what is in the Prize cards, you want 1 Ethan’s Pichu, 2 Tynamo, and 1 Helioptile, using “Tandem Unit” twice to do that if necessary.
Ethan’s Pichu opens a match, dealing damage while drawing cards and thus increasing your chances of finding Canari, which you’d use to either find Miraidon ex or a bunch of evolved Pokémon. Should you find a Canari, either directly or through Pokégear 3.0, you can pull Lightning Energy from the discard pile via Eelektrik’s “Dynamotor” Ability, from the deck via Heliolisk’s “Frilled Generator,” and from each other via Energy Switch and Poppy. (Because “Frilled Generator” attaches 2 Lightning Energy onto itself, Poppy lets you move them to another Pokémon of your choice. To that end, this is thus far the only deck I’ve made that uses Poppy and will likely be the only one before she rotates out later in the year.)
Mega Eelektross ex is the main attacker of this deck, whose second attack, Disaster Shock, deals 190 damage (enough to 2-hit KO anything without boosted HP) and, if you discard 2 Lightning Energy attached to it, ensures Paralysis. Thus, you can put the opponent’s Active Pokémon into an endless loop of being unable to retreat or attack, much like Bellibolt ex in the “Bellibolt Aching” deck. (Incidentally, Mega Eelektross ex’s Split Bomb attack is functionally similar to Bellibolt ex’s Jumping Press attack.) This deck is designed to replenish that Energy, one of them through Powerglass and the other via the aforementioned means, Eelektrik and Helioptile attaching Energy to the Bench and Energy Switch and Poppy to move them to Mega Eelektross ex.
This deck, however, has the unfortunate timing to turn up at the same time as Mega Dragonite ex, whose Ability, “Sky Transport,” nullifies all special conditions, Paralysis included, by providing a free switch. Mist Energy also gives this deck trouble; I should consider Enhanced Hammer to remove the protective effects of Mist Energy (and the upcoming Rock Energy from Perfect Order). It does, however, work handily against decks that rely on retreating rather than switching, as Paralysis-based decks are so rare that the majority of decks are not built to handle them.
For the first match, I wanted to show the default music, as it has been changed this season (though thinking about it, I should’ve waited for the Trainer Trials). I was having a streak of below average luck though, with getting relatively few Energy for how far in the deck I’ve been and not getting Canari or Pokégear 3.0 at all until almost halfway through, and that’s only after using Iono to dig further. This is also a previous version with N’s Plan. The second match shows how I could use Heliolisk to attack with if the situation calls for it, though I don’t like attacks based on coin flips because, as you can see, there is always the chance to hit for 0 damage, and putting all that Energy on something with only 120 HP is risky. I think my opponent saw the writing on the wall, though, when I pulled Hydreigon ex out before it had the Energy needed to attack and put in guaranteed Paralysis.
