The son of opera singer parents, Kid got his first electric guitar at 8 and by his teens Ramos was playing friend’s parties and nightclubs on a regular basis, joining harmonica expert James Harman’s blues-based band from 1980-88, playing throughout California. He joined the Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1993, regularly appearing and recording with them until 2002. A cancer survivor who underwent rigorous treatment and surgery, 2014 Kid Ramos received the Orange County Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
Playing hard-hittin’, in-your-face blues, Los Angeles-based The 44s are one the brightest rising stars on the American blues roots scene. Their rough and tough sounds played on vintage instruments evidence a genuine gift for creating blues in the moment while at the same time showing loyalty to a remarkable blues-and-r&b tradition. American Blues News named The 44s the Best Blues Band of 2011, and Blues Underground Network awarded the band with Best Debut Album for their first release Boogie Disease. Each of the band members contribute their energy and talent into making a dynamic whole from individual excellence.
