Hellfire Pass is a cutting through a hill to allow a train line from Thailand into (then) Burma during World War 2. POWs and local labourers worked under atrocious condition with more than 100,000 of them dying during the process under enslavement by Japanese soldiers.

Driving the new (old) car back to Phuket from Bangkok but taking the road less travelled, reporting from an hour north of Kanchanaburi in a historic location called Hellfire Pass, or locally Konyu Cutting. The Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre is funded by the Australian Government on land, loaned by HM the King of Thailand and managed by the Royal Thai Army and Australian Defence Force.
