042621 SPRING 2 ALARM FIRE

Just after noon Monday a fire was reported by residents on Spring Forest and Old Ox. They reported heavy smoke and multiple explosions. South Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the scene. On arrival, they reported multiple buildings on fire. A second alarm was pulled and a request for three additional tankers and two additional engines. This brought Woodlands, Spring, Klein, Porter, East Montgomery County, Timber Lakes, and Needham Fire Departments. Over 1000 feet of hose was put on the ground for the initial water supply but water sources could not keep up as tankers began to shuttle water. Old Ox was closed off but several motorists decided to not wait and drive over the firehose. They quickly met the Precinct 3 Constable Deputies who issued citations for driving over the hose. The Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office is investigating. Last year the company came under scrutiny for unsafe practices and was shut down. There is no word yet as to if this was the same situation.
